Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, Food Safety Plan, Listeria, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Some additional items will include: Color Coding, Waste Management, and Rework.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in a manufacturing environment. However, the main essential job functions include: loading and unloading raw materials into automatic dryers and manually dumping product directly onto feed conveyors; must be able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
Job Function Statements Essential Functions:
A Dryer Operator is expected to perform the following essential job functions (detailed):
- Handling product that may have a temperature of 32-36 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Responsible for counting and keeping track of product dumped into the hoppers.
- Safely operate hoists, dryers, and dumping machines.
- Transferring filled baskets of product in and out of dryers.
- Perform other duties (such as basic housekeeping) as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Physical requirements: must be able to stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours or more), perform repetitive motions throughout shift such as push/pull/lift, bend continuously throughout the shift, lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds, and be able to climb stairs or step up onto a platform several times throughout the shift.
- Must pass a physical exam
- Must be able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must be able to work 6 consecutive days, overtime and weekends if necessary.
- Must be able to count.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
