Trainee Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, dispatching generally between 1:00 am and 5:00 am
Trainee Compensation: $18.00/hour
Position Summary: The Driver Trainee position is ideal for individuals interested in starting a career in the transportation industry. As a Driver Trainee, you will be trained to work as a Driver Helper while attending a CBW approved, qualified driving school. You will complete paid on-the-job training for making deliveries as you continue to learn route driving. While in the role you will develop the skills needed to become a CDL Driver. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement within our company. Upon successful completion of the trainee program and obtaining your CDL, you will move into a Delivery Driver position. As a Delivery Driver, your schedule and compensation will be based on the specific routes assigned to you, differing from your Trainee schedule and compensation. CBW Drivers start around $75,000 per year.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Drivers with Deliveries: Help the driver with the loading, unloading, and delivery of products to customers, ensuring accurate and timely deliveries.
- Product Handling: Safely handle and transport goods, ensuring they are delivered in good condition. This may involve lifting, carrying, and moving products within customer premises using a handcart.
- Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customer during deliveries. Address customer inquiries or direct them to the appropriate contact.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and company policies. Assist in ensuring that the delivery vehicle is operated safely and complies with all safety regulations.
- Route Navigation: Support the driver in planning and navigating delivery routes, learning to efficiency manage time, and optimize delivery schedules.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Assist the driver in conducting routine vehicle inspections and reporting any maintenance needs to ensure the vehicle remains in safe and operating condition.
- Training and Development: Participate in on-the-job training and education programs to learn the skills and knowledge necessary for a future driving position.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Must be 20 years of age or older. Federal guidelines require all CDL holders to be at least 21 years of age to operate a commercial motor vehicle across state lines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior professional driving experience required.
- Experience in warehouse, distribution, or delivery environment is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
