JOB SUMMARY:

This position drives Lowboy to branch/customer locations for pickups, deliveries, and branch transfers of Ohio Machinery Co. construction equipment. Properly and safely load and unload equipment on and off the delivery vehicle. Provide some basic instructions to customers on the operation of equipment. General duties around the yard and facility as assigned. Responsible for checking equipment for damages when returned. Driver must always maintain a safe driving record. Department of Transportation (DOT) logbook to be in 100% compliance. Drivers Daily Inspection Reports are to be completed before the first run every morning. Interacts with rental counter personnel throughout the day to support changing demand for equipment, which happens almost hourly. Makes final inspection of equipment before the customer receives it, verifying inventory ID number, fuel level, and “rental ready” condition. Driver must report all maintenance and repairs that need to be done to the dispatch supervisor, before arranging work to be done to the truck/trailer. Required to turn in all driver logs and pre-trips to the Dispatch Manager weekly.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A clean (less than 4 points) driving record with a Class “A” CDL license and a current Medical Certification Card (acquired by the time of appointment) is required.
• Prior truck-trailer combination driving experience and an in-depth understanding of special restrictions/laws/regulations of the transportation industry are required.
• Experience in safe operation of 6-axle set-up and oversized loads required. 
• Knowledge of the electronic logbook is required.
• General knowledge of construction equipment, maintenance, and operation is desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 50lbs; Climbing on and off a delivery vehicle as well as on and off equipment; The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
