JOB BRIEF

The U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) is seeking a Driver / Office Assistant who will be responsible for supporting the Tunisia office with transportation needs, purchasing supplies, providing basic office administrative assistance, and assisting with logistical set-up and take-down for workshops and trainings.  

The Driver / Office Assistant will report to the Administrative Officer and works closely with the Finance and Operations team and Tunisia program staff. This is a full-time Personal Services Contractor position open to Host Country Nationals and legal residents in Tunisia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the office driver for staff travel within Greater Tunis, and occasionally to governorates outside Greater Tunis as and when required.
• Monitor the vehicles/ conditions daily. 
•  Take care of repair needs and travel logbooks, and perform checks before operating the vehicles.
• Maintain records of the vehicle movements, inform of the relevant users and indicate the purpose for which the vehicle was.   
•  Be up-to-date on driving regulations in Tunisia and follow changes that occur. Ensure that the vehicle rented or at USIP disposal is roadworthy, insured, and meets the official requirements and documentation of the Tunisia Transport Authority.
•  Be up to date with the travel requests made by USIP staff and visitors.
• Provide support to the office administrative functions, which include undertaking messenger tasks, clerical duties, purchasing office supplies, paying bills, photocopying, banking duties. 
• Complete pre- and post-trip safety and operations checklists and documentation.
• Assist with regular vehicle inspections, arranging maintenance when necessary.

Perform other duties as requested.  

QUALIFICATIONS  

• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean driving record for at least one year.
• Professional experience working in an international organization preferred.
• Ability to drive for extended periods.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Excellent navigational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
