Driller Assistant- Environmental / Geotechnical

Our client, an environmental consulting company providing service throughout PA, MD, WV and OH, is seeking a hard-working, dependable and Safety oriented Driller Assistant to support their Geotechnical/ Environmental Drillers.
Driller Assistant’s responsibilities include - Assisting the Driller with all drilling functions (i.e., Hollow Stem Auguring, Air Rotary, Rock coring, etc.), Installing monitoring wells and soil borings, groundwater / soil sampling and other geological / hydrogeological investigations.
Maintenance and operation of all company drill rigs and other field equipment; Maintenance of remediation systems; site restoration; driving company vehicles including rollback truck (if CDL Class B license).

Minimum Qualifications:
• Valid Driver’s License is required- with a clean driving record (Class B CDL is a plus)
• Proficiency in heavy equipment operations (such as skid steer, jack hammer, vacuum unit)
• Mechanical ability, including electrical, plumbing is a plus
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols
• Smartphone and computer skills are required
• Ability to use electronic logging devices for tracking of working and driving hours is required
• Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment with moderate to high noise levels, i.e. heavy equipment and drilling
• Must be able to work on various types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions, majority of time will be spent outdoors in various extreme conditions (hot/cold, wet/dry)
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to sit/stand/kneel/reach/climb for long periods of time
• Individually able to lift 50 pounds, more with assistance
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training course, a plus. Training provided if not
• Willingness to learn and follow all field and company protocols
• High School degree or equivalent

Schedule / Benefits Overview:
• Hourly rate based on experience. Higher rate for some drilling experience
• Monday – Friday, with an occasional weekend. Averages 50 hours a week. Must be adaptable to the last-minute changing of schedule and out-of-down projects
• Average nights out of town –2-3 nights per week
• Company pays for all food/lodging while traveling
