Dog Hiker / Dog Walker - Wauwatosa - Off Leash MKE

Off Leash MKE is a premium pet care for dogs and cats. Home to Milwaukee’s premier adventure club for dogs, this is more than just the average dog walk. Our work has a focus on enrichment and positive reinforcement. We specialize in group dog nature hikes. At Off Leash Milwaukee, we understand the importance of pet care and fostering a healthy and enriching environment for your pets. 

• As Dog Adventurists, we hike dogs (individually and in groups) along local trails and perform group pack play adventures.
• As Dog Walkers, we visit client homes and walk their dogs in their neighborhood. You may also transport dogs to a location for hiking along local trails.
• As pet sitters, we provide pet-sitting, boarding, and house-sitting services for dogs and cats. 
• Our dog walks and dog hikes normally run from 10am to 3pm, Monday - Friday. You will have additional work opportunities evenings and holidays.
• Most staff members will work 15-25 hours weekly. 
• We service Milwaukee Downtown, Third Ward, 5th Ward, Walker’s Point, Brewer’s Hill, Bay View, Wauwatosa, Washington Heights, Washington Highlands, Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, River Hills, Glendale, Fox Point, Mequon, Cedarburg, and surrounding communities. You would not be expected to visit all of those areas.

Compensation:

$15 - $22.50 / hour plus 100% client gratuity (position starts at $15 to $17.50 per hour with scheduled performance reviews and compensation increases)

• Paid training with Pet CPR and Pet First Aid certifications. 
• Additional training to read and understand animal behavior. 

The responsibilities:

• Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs.
• Be prepared to work with dogs individually or in groups in a natural environment. 
• Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences.
• Provide detailed and attentive care for our client's cats.
• Our clients are ongoing members in our community. They expect first-class customer service. 
• Communicate with staff via a dedicated app on your modern smartphone.
• Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits
• Driving is part of this work. You may also be transporting multiple dogs in your vehicle.

• Employees often work independently. We want you to enjoy and thrive in that setting.
• You must love the outdoors and be ready to roll in all weather.
• Many members of our staff were previously dog walkers with on-demand services, doggy daycare staff, dog groomers, or volunteers at a local shelter.
• Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude with a desire to learn is just as important.
• Candidates with evening, weekend, and holiday availability are given special consideration.
