Dog Behavior and Training Technician
Our Dog Behavior and Training Technician is an Advanced Kennel Tech Position. You will be performing day to day tasks that make the kennel run smoothly while also offering support to our training and social staff.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in an animal-related field, preferably demonstrating knowledge of behavior modification.
- Hands-on dog handling experience across the entire spectrum of size, breed, and reactivity level. Shelter work, veterinary medicine, and dog training experience are preferred but not required.
- Ability to recognize dog body language and handle situations accordingly.
- Effective communication skills with both customers and staff.
- Dependable with reliable transportation.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize tasks effectively.
- Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Positive attitude and openness to whatever the day brings.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Lead Morning and Evening Operations including walking, feeding, and cleaning ensuring the kennel runs efficiently, safely, and sanitarily
- Support Animal Care Technicians with safe handling of reactive dogs
- Support trainers and staff with daily dog socialization, training activities, and animal care/enrichment activities.
- Upload videos and add behavior descriptions for owners.
- Help create videos and notes for owners detailing training and socialization activities.
- Work with owners and their pets to ensure positive outcomes and experiences.
- This position entails partial Kennel Technician work: cleaning, dog walking, and basic animal care.
- While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to a typical kennel environment and may encounter unpleasant kennel smells and noises.
- This is a very physical job; candidates must be able to work on their feet for the entire shift, lift/hold dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and maneuver multiple sets of stairs during a shift.
