What we need
We are looking for a Document Control Specialist to join our Engineering Services team within our Core Hardware organization. Your job will be to develop a global understanding of the document control lifecycle at Symbotic including upstream and downstream impacts. You will support continuous improvement and process optimization opportunities and will administrate PLM processes and tools including the permissions and use of Teamcenter, our PLM tool.
What we do
The Engineering Services team is part of the Hardware Org which is responsible for Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical Engineering of the Symbot and the Structure, System Layout, and Electrical Distribution Systems.
What you’ll do
- Perform administrative duties in the PLM system as necessary, including but not limited to:
- Configuring PLM System for optimal usability and data access speed.
- Creating and removing user accounts.
- Managing supplier access to Symbotic’s PLM system.
- Configuring, Managing, and supporting PLM access for Symbotic’s partners.
- Assisting with data migration and release.
- Creating processes and workflows within PLM.
- Addressing bugs or software errors with Arena staff.
- Maintaining accuracy of product data in PLM.
- Lead change control process improvement and gap filling workstreams.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings as the Change Control representative.
- Develop or update policies and procedures related to PLM and organizational change management and process improvement.
- Review and Route Engineering Change Orders (ECR/ECNs) to reviewers as necessary.
- Track ECOs for approval globally, defining and providing reports weekly and on demand.
- Execute Admin Change Orders (ACOs) when appropriate.
- Develop and provide PLM and change management training to employees as necessary.
- Run PLM data quality checks to ensure smooth part and engineering bill of material (BOM) transfer to downstream systems (ex. ERP, MRP, etc.).
- Import parts and BOMs from design partners into the PLM system.
- Maintain synchronicity of CAD data vault parts with PLM.
What you’ll need
- Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Technical or Information Management Discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years related experience.
- Experience working in Product Data Management tools (Siemens Teamcenter).
- Experience in facilitating a robust Engineering Change Management process.
- Experience in Bill of Material (BoM) Management including creation, configuration, compatibility.
- Experience with taxonomy and Knowledge Management.
- Familiarity with CAD files, including 2D drawings and 3D models.
Our Environment
- Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
