The role you’ll contribute:
The Divisional Inpatient Coding Supervisor, under general supervision of the Division Inpatient Coding Manager, is
responsible for the daily operation of the inpatient coding section and has direct oversight of the inpatient coders. The
Coding Supervisor works in conjunction with the Inpatient Coding Managers and Coding Auditors to ensure the integrity
of coded data, the education and training of the coding staff, as well as being a resource to the entire organization on
issues related to coded data. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in
maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Responsible for the discharged not final billed at all facilities in
the region and will be able to schedule resources as needed at those facilities.

1.Supervises, develops, and coaches the coders, motivating and supporting others in overcoming barriers to
understanding.
2.Assists with the workflow which includes monitoring held accounts, queue assignment, and interactions with CDI.
Helps in the collaboration of education as well as quality reviews.in an effort to sustain an excellent organizational
average accuracy rate while maintaining adherence to corporate compliance.
3.Drives operational efficiency and sustains excellence in coding workflow with accountability for meeting and
exceeding established DNFB and accuracy goals. Maintains appropriate scheduling to ensure appropriate workflow and
limitation of the use of overtime and utilizing contract coders. Monitors individual and overall productivity, working to
remove barriers and coaching team members on efficiency.
4.Provides positive morale maintenance on a routine basis. Fosters positive relationship with fellow workers.
Contributes to and promotes departmental performance improvement initiatives and employee engagement.
5.Provides input as to the content of in-services and continuing education to the inpatient coding staff.
6.Participates in job interviewing, testing and selection of new employees; contributes to and promotes departmental
performance improvement initiatives and employee engagement.
7.Collaborates and serves as a resource to other departments in the Revenue Cycle to ensure business continuity and
optimal revenue cycle management. Handles outpatient requests for coding review by other departments/individuals
(Patient Financial Services (CBO), Case Management, Revenue Integrity).
8.Uses critical thinking and sound judgement in decision making, keeping reimbursement considerations in balance with
regulatory compliance.
9.Assumes personal responsibility for professional growth, development, and continuing education to maintain a high
level of proficiency.
10.Ability to lead a team with oversight of a multi-facility division.
11.Maintains the confidentiality of employees, patients, administrative staff, and medical staff information with no
infractions.
12.Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:

3.Exhaustive knowledge of inpatient coding and working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and all regulatory
compliance requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Graduate or Equivalent and 3 years experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1.Minimum of 3 years' experience coding inpatient records.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
• Certified Coding Specialist
• Certified Professional Coder
• Registered Health Information Administrator
• Reg Health Information Tech
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
•RHIA or RHIT or CPC or CCS required.
