SUMMARY: The District English Language Development Coordinator is an integral part of ensuring all Multilingual Learners (MLs) meet or exceed the 9-R Graduation Standards and Graduation Requirements. The District English Language Development Coordinator will lead the implementation of system-wide practices that are inclusive and supportive of MLs and that contribute to the academic achievement of MLs. The ELD Coordinator will collaborate with building and district leadership to develop understanding of effective ELD programming, English Language Development instructional practices, and effective family and community partnering techniques. The District English Language Development Coordinator does not include the evaluation of teachers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development and implementation of the district English Language Development (ELD) plan so that all Multilingual Learners (ML) meet or exceed the 9-R Graduation Standards and Graduation Requirements.
• Lead the development of a system to monitor the effectiveness of the district ELD plan, ELD program models, and achievement of Multilingual Learners (ELs).
• Analyze student and program related data for the purpose of providing information related to student and program achievement in order to evaluate program effectiveness and to provide information needed for strategic planning.
• Support schools in implementing research based ELD program model(s) that align to the district ELD plan and reflect the linguistic, social-emotional, and academic needs of the English learner population schools are serving.
• Provide ongoing support to schools through instructional models and implementation rubrics, as well as, job-embedded professional learning in implementing and evaluating selected ELD program model(s) that support the linguistic, social-emotional, and academic needs of ELs.
• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of family and community partnering structures.
• Support schools with identification, placement, and annual progress monitoring of MLs. Provide support to the assessment coordinator with annual assessments including placement and annual language proficiency assessments.
• Assist in data collection and analysis to monitor ELD programming and student academic success during and after receiving ELD services.
• Lead a process to review and recommend instructional resources and materials aligned to the district’s Graduation Requirements and to the district’s ELD program.
• Respond to teacher, school, parent, and community needs including informal requests regarding policies, procedures, and programming for ML students.
• Facilitate adult learning in a way that develops the professional community’s compelling purpose, collective efficacy and shared responsibility for student learning, collaborative culture, communal application of effective teaching practices, deprivatized practice, relational trust, and individual/group learning based on ongoing assessment and feedback so that each educator and student meets or exceeds expectations.
• Present, Facilitate, Consult, and Collaborate with other educators to create and implement professional learning that results in the success of every educator and every student.
• Observe (non-evaluative) teachers’ practice and provide cognitive coaching and feedback for the teachers’ professional growth and students’ success in meeting or exceeding the graduation standards.
• Support school leaders, instructional leadership teams, and teachers in using data to meet the needs of every student so that all students meet or exceed graduation standards and graduation competencies.
• Develop and manage district ELD budgets with respect to priority needs in alignment with the district’s ELD plan, program evaluation, and student achievement outcomes.
• Maintain the Language Services (interpretation and translation) so that families can meaningfully engage in their child’s education.
• Support the development and implementation of the district’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging strategic plan.
• Attend and help facilitate the Inclusive Excellence Guiding Coalition and the Spanish Speaking Superintendent Parent Advisory.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Minimum:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Education and/or training in English Language Development and/or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD)

Preferred:

• Master’s degree from accredited university in related field
• Multilingual, oral and written proficiency in Spanish preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: Three years of successful teaching experience in ELD required.

Preferred: Teaching experience at elementary, middle, and high school.

Experience in teacher leadership, learning focused conversations, and/or cognitive coaching. Experience implementing personalized learning practices in a competency-based learning model.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver’s license required.

Colorado Teaching License w/endorsement in CLDE or related field.
