Distribution Engineering Associate

System One is currently seeking a Distribution Engineering Associate on a 6 month contract position located in Savannah, GA.
Distribution Engineering Associate Responsibilities:
- Assist in Distribution System Design
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, plan, and optimize electrical distribution systems.
- Help create detailed drawings and plans for distribution infrastructure.
- Collect and analyze data related to the distribution network, including load data, system performance data, and asset information. Use data to assist in decision-making.
- Assist in the selection and specification of distribution equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and protective devices, considering voltage levels and load requirements.
- Ensure that distribution system designs and plans comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry codes. Assist in obtaining regulatory approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of distribution equipment and infrastructure. Update documentation and drawings to reflect changes and upgrades.
- Provide support to senior engineers and project managers in the execution of distribution infrastructure projects.
- Assist in project planning, budgeting, and coordination.
- Assist in responding to emergency situations, such as power outages or equipment failures.
- Collaborate with the team to help restore power quickly.
- Become proficient in distribution system design software, computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and power system simulation software used in the industry.
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with developments in electrical distribution engineering, including new technologies and industry trends.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Clearly convey information and updates on projects and tasks.
Distribution Engineering Associate Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is typically required. Some positions may consider candidates with an associate degree or relevant coursework.
- Entry-level engineers may be encouraged to work toward obtaining a professional engineering license (PE) or other certifications as they gain experience.
- Basic knowledge of distribution system design principles and electrical engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with CAD software and tools used in the industry.
- A commitment to safety protocols and procedures in electrical engineering and distribution.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in assessing network performance and troubleshooting issues.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, industry standards, and company-specific practices.
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team and convey information to colleagues and supervisors.
Duration: 6 months
Location: Savannah, GA
Pay Rate: $35/hr
