What you'll be doing...
As a Distinguished Data Engineer at Verizon, you are responsible for:
Managing data platforms and implementing new technologies and tools to further enhance and enable data science/analytics, focusing to drive scalable data management and governance practices.
Drive vision with the leadership team for data platforms enrichment covering the areas like Data Warehousing/Data Lake/BI across the Verizon Business (VBG) and Consumer (VCG) Groups.
Providing technical leadership and guidance: You will serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring other engineers and influencing architectural decisions for various strategic programs across VBG and VCG lines of businesses.
Designing and developing complex data solutions: This includes building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to support Verizon's diverse business needs.
Working with cutting-edge technologies: You'll leverage your expertise in big data technologies (like BigQuery, Dataflow, Teradata Utilities, Hadoop, Kafka, Pub-Sub, Graph DB, VectorDB), cloud platforms (like Google cloud platform and OCI), and data modeling techniques to deliver innovative AI & Data solutions.
Ensuring data quality and integrity: You will implement robust data quality checks and validation processes to maintain the accuracy and reliability of data assets.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams: This involves working closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver impactful data-driven solutions.
Staying abreast of industry trends: Continuous learning and exploration of emerging technologies in the big data and cloud computing domains is crucial.
Participating in building world-class data products / assets for telecom business that includes revenue analytics, access cost analytics to improve margins for our Business.(VBG) and Consumer (VCG) lines of businesses.

What we're looking for...
- Participating in building world-class data products / assets for telecom business that includes revenue analytics, access cost analytics to improve margins for our Business.(VBG) and Consumer (VCG) lines of businesses.
- Collaborating with business product owners, directors, and system architects to develop strategic data solutions from sources which include batch, file and data streams.
- Driving the vision with the leadership team for data platforms enrichment covering the areas like Data Warehousing/Data Lake/BI across the portfolio.
- Understanding the business needs around Single-row data model and work to enrich data, automate pipelines and reports, productionize data assets, migrate to strategic platform such as to GCP etc..
- Driving concept initiation, design, build, and implementation of new data models and data pipelines the helps drive bottom-line business benefits.
- Driving data quality across all data pipelines and related business areas.
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Extensive experience in end-to-end delivery of Data Warehousing Solutions and working on large scale data transformation preferably in telecom industry
- Experience in building both batch & real-time data solutions using Google Cloud Platform/Big Query.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Six or more years of experience in leading teams and driving the end-to-end deliverables.
- Two or more years of experience in contributing to telecom/technology industry at large such as white-papers, article, etc..
- Experience in delivering Data Products at enterprise scale to support business decisions and outcomes that are focused around B2B revenue generation, access cost models, network architecture
- Experience in building data services using conversational data and integrating with Generative AI services.
- Experience in building data products that can enable predictive AI and prescriptive AI
- Experience working in any Graph DB or Vector DBs.
- Experience in working with DevOps and Data pipeline automation platforms.
- Knowledge of Spark, Hive, Scala, Pig, Kafka, Pulsar, Nifi, Python, Shell scripting.
- Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload.
- Experience in building / mentoring data teams
