Our new Van Nuys, CA branch is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to oversee and coordinate logistics operations. In this vital role, you will:
- Schedule and sequence deliveries with a focus on prompt and responsive customer service.
- Assign routes, vehicles, and drivers to ensure maximum efficiency and on-time performance.
- Act as the central hub of communication, ensuring seamless coordination between drivers, customers, and internal teams.
As a Dispatcher, you’ll be the driving force behind our logistics operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of products to customers and across various locations.
- Plan and coordinate the daily dispatch schedule, optimizing routes and loads to maximize efficiency while meeting customer demands.
- Effectively assign drivers and trucks based on their availability, skills, and proximity to delivery locations, considering factors like traffic conditions and weather.
- Records and/or reviews pertinent information such as time of departure, destination, product mix, and expected time of return.
- Inspects and assists loading operations to ensure adherence to quality, productivity, and safety standards.
- Maintains Daily Delivery Schedule Board for drivers to review and arrange their deliveries accordingly.
- Communicates with sales staff to coordinate deliveries.
- Proactively identify potential disruptions or delays and swiftly implement alternative solutions. Maintain constant communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and compliance standards, promoting a culture of safety and responsible driving practices.
- Analyze dispatch performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Inspects work area to ensure adherence to safety standards and cleanliness of overall facility.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a cooperative manner with customers, co-workers, and managers.
- Performs truck loading responsibilities.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent education
- 3-5 years of experience as a Truck Dispatcher.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal, written, and reading communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of trucking regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
- Forklift certified.
- Dedication to delivering excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in time management, consistently meeting responsibilities within designated timeframes.
- Collaborative mindset, fostering positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external interactions with customers and manufacturers.
- Basic math skills, including counting and performing computations up to four digits.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding.
- Proficient in English, including reading, writing, and oral communication.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, considering all factors and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Adherence to workplace rules, methods, policies, and procedures.
