About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Dispatcher to join our team and oversee the daily coordination of 20-40 drivers in a Delivery Service Partner (DSP) environment. The Dispatcher will be responsible for monitoring driver routes, delivery pacing, and ensuring seamless communication using tools like Slack, Hera messaging, and phone systems. This role includes generating operational reports for the Operations Manager, collaborating with the Operations Manager and Fleet Manager to prepare for the next day, and ensuring all logistical processes run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Management and Coordination:
- Oversee a team of 20-40 drivers daily, ensuring effective route management and on-time deliveries.
- Utilize Slack, Hera messaging, and phone systems to maintain real-time communication with drivers.
- Monitor driver progress throughout the day, ensuring delivery pacing aligns with expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers to address real-time challenges, including route adjustments and vehicle issues.
Operational Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and document driver performance metrics, including route completion times and delivery accuracy.
- Generate daily and weekly reports for the Operations Manager, detailing key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, driver productivity, and exceptions.
- Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to delivery operations.
Collaborative Planning:
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Fleet Manager to ensure next-day readiness, including driver schedules, route assignments, and vehicle availability.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Manager to report vehicle maintenance needs and resolve any fleet-related issues impacting operations.
- Assist in implementing new processes or tools to optimize DSP performance and efficiency.
Problem Solving and Escalation:
- Address and resolve delivery delays, missed packages, or routing inefficiencies promptly.
- Escalate unresolved or significant operational issues to the Operations Manager and recommend potential solutions.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to delivery operations.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in an Amazon DSP environment or similar last-mile delivery operation.
- Familiarity with Amazon DSP tools and processes, including routing, package scanning, and performance metrics.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of routing and delivery pacing in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in communication tools such as Slack and Hera messaging systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret performance data and develop actionable insights.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
