Role Summary:
The Director, Total Rewards will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation and administration of an overall Benefits & Compensation strategy to ensure market competitiveness, internal fair practices and support of EA Sween operations, culture and strategy.
Essential Competencies of the Role (3 – 5 Primary Areas):
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of company benefit programs, from plan design through employee communication and enrollment. Plans include but are not limited to medical, dental, life insurance, disability benefits, leave administration including workers compensation and retirement plans.
- Oversee, evaluate and ensure the consistent application of compensation programs that drive quality performance, align with company goals and are competitive in the labor market. Compensation components include but are not limited to base salary, incentive pay, deferred compensation, merit planning and recognition programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation and benefits policies and procedures, providing insights and recommendations to senior leaders to support strategy and objectives.
- Manage consultants, brokers, third party administrators and other external service providers by building strong relationships and monitoring vendor performance.
- Support remote operations with regional strategies where necessary, using market assessment and business strategy/cost impact analysis to be competitive in specific labor markets.
- Collaborate with internal partners in Human Resources, Finance, Payroll and Operations to provide compensation and benefits expertise and to support company recruitment and retention efforts.
- Ensure compensation and benefit programs, standards and procedures incorporate financial/administrative controls and cost considerations.
- Manage compliance with all state and federal wage and benefit regulations, including required reporting with regulatory agencies.
- Develop and lead the Total Rewards team through selection, ongoing development and frequent feedback and recognition.
- Deploy technology to continually improve the efficiency of program administration and improve employee access.
- Develop effective leader and employee communication resources to build awareness and understanding of pay and benefit programs.
- Regularly participate in benchmarking and best practices research regarding reward programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field. HR and Benefits and/or Compensation certifications desired. (CEBs, CCP, SHRM-CP or equivalent)
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience with progressive responsibility, including 1-3 years of experience leading others.
- Demonstrated competency with compensation and benefit programs including benefit plan design, compensation structure design, market analysis, workers compensation and recognition and rewards programs.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements related to Total Rewards programs (FLSA, Sec 125, ERISA, FMLA and HIPPA).
- Knowledge of compensation and benefits funding, reporting and disclosure requirements. Prefer multi-state experience.
- Solid project management skills with previous experience in strategy development and successful program implementation.
- Ability to research and propose relevant and innovative solutions to drive efficiencies.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to support recommendations and metrics to evaluate effectiveness.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel and Power Point) and web-based HRIS systems.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate and build understanding at all levels of the organization.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to work within an office environment, on-site and remote when required.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced autonomous environment.
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, bend, turn, twist, reach, pull and push.
- Must be able to travel occasionally, as needed.
- Must have the ability to learn multiple software systems
- Must be able to organize, prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, act professionally and maintain information confidentiality.
