About the Job
The Corporate Counsel provides comprehensive legal support on all matters affecting Aspirus, Inc. and its affiliated entities, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, consistent with Aspirus, Inc.’s principles, mission, and philosophies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Experience
· Identifies opportunities to improve patient experience. Participates in projects/programs designed to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
Patient/Staff/Environmental Safety
· Identifies opportunities to improve the Environment of Care, and patient and staff safety. Participates in projects and programs designed to create a safe environment to avoid error.
Job Specific Duties
· Serves as legal advisor to Aspirus, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates, under the direction of the Senior Vice President - General Counsel & Administrative Services and in close collaboration with the Managing Counsel.
· Advises on a wide range of legal issues, with a focus on proactive approaches and the goals of Aspirus, Inc.
· Collaborates with the Corporate Compliance Officer and others as needed to develop and deliver training programs on legal compliance and best practices.
· Drafts, reviews, and updates contracts, leases, licenses, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
· Supports internal investigations related to corporate compliance and other areas as needed.
· Provides legal support and guidance at every stage of litigation, working closely with external counsel as needed.
· Monitors and advises on changes in laws that may impact the health system.
· Analyzes and applies healthcare and other regulatory rules to Aspirus, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
· Assists in acquisitions, bond issues, and other major legal transactions.
· Supports improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Services department.
Department Specific Accountabilities
· Maintains department specific accountabilities as determined, maintained, and housed within each unit’s Scope of Service.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Education
· Knowledge of legal standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an accredited law school.
Experience
· Minimum of four years of legal practice required.
· Demonstrated excellence in legal research, analysis, and communication.
· Strong negotiation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
Required
· Current license to practice law. Must obtain Wisconsin license within 12 months of date of hire.
Preferred
· Experience with commercial transactions and a variety of legal processes.
· Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards
