Overview:
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving and exceeding topline revenue by executing sales strategy across all managed market segments. Responsibilities include leading a sizable sales team, business development, and client engagement. The position requires a direct, determined, and decisive leader with a strong sense of urgency for achieving results. This candidate will have an exemplary track record of surpassing truly audacious goals under the most demanding circumstances.
Qualifications:Leadership:
- Inspire and motivate direct reports to stretch beyond their potential. Develop team members to be innovative and resourceful in the pursuit of revenue goals and objectives.
- Set individual revenue targets, key performance indicators, and metrics (what success looks like and how it will be measured).
- Review action plans with each direct report and provide feedback during weekly 1-1 meetings and quarterly reviews. Set expectations and uphold accountability for performance.
- Onboard team members during their 90-day induction; ensure new hires are highly engaged and equipped with the tools, knowledge, and resources to make immediate contributions to the business.
- Coach direct reports on the sales process and share valuable feedback at each stage of the cycle to capture every available revenue opportunity.
- Teach and empower direct reports to exercise sound judgement and make profitable business decisions.
- Create growth plans that positively impact revenues, nurture retention, and serve as an important roadmap for promotion within Hard Rock.
- Actively network within the industry to generate a talent pipeline for all positions on the team.
- Lead and/or contribute to meetings including daily team standups, business reviews, sales meetings, event servicing meetings, and revenue meetings.
- Strengthen employee morale, connection, and satisfaction with ongoing team member communication, recognition, and appreciation.
- Provide consistent and timely feedback with respect and dignity.
- Spark ideas, input, and diverse viewpoints from each member of the team to drive the business forward.
- Deliver exemplary hospitality and serve as a model of service excellence.
Business Development:
- Implement strategic revenue driving tactics for each market segment.
- Exceed individual revenue goal and quarterly and annual team targets.
- Identify new clients, markets, and other business opportunities; react and adjust quickly to changing conditions in the economy and marketplace.
- Build and strengthen client relationships on behalf of the Hotel and as a senior leader of the sales team.
- Represent Hard Rock Hotel New York at premiere hospitality events and tradeshows, lead site inspections, and host clients at the Hotel.
- Cultivate strong professional connections with department leaders and internal stakeholders including the Global Sales Office.
- Partner closely with the Global Sales Office to execute brand-level initiatives and account development plans.
- Analyze market trends using business intelligence; propose tactics to shift market share and increase rate.
- Foster deep connections with industry counterparts and professional organizations.
- Pioneer ideas that differentiate the hotel and position the property at the forefront of the competitive landscape.
Strategies + Systems:
- Work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of Revenue Management to shape and implement the annual business plan.
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting of rooms and catering revenues.
- Prepare month end reports for all segments; analyze production and use the data to set or adjust account strategies.
- Devise standard operating procedures that support business objectives; review and refine for maximum effectiveness.
- Train team members on Hard Rock International brand standards for the sales CRM and other booking tools; perform regular audits.
- Manage department expenses to be in line with the annual sales budget; propose efficiencies as needed.

- Experience working for a luxury/lifestyle hotel is preferred.
- Passion for music and knowledge of music trends preferred.
For this New York, New York United States-based position, the expected annual base salary is $180000-$190000.
