About the Job
This position includes creating, maintaining, and enforcing best-practice policies, processes, tools, reports, metrics and training for the sales organization with regards to commission plans, to ensure the achievement of sales targets and the continuous improvement of sales performance and productivity using compensation as a driver of behavior.
Primary Accountabilities:
Lead a team of financial analysts; manage the development and communication of commission plans and programs for the sales organization
Lead all day-to-day activities required to maintain the company's sales compensation systems for effectively measuring and reporting sales payments to ensure alignment with the growth objectives of the business
Deploy commission plans and quotas across the sales organization in collaboration with Sales Operations
Monitor the effectiveness of existing practices and recommend changes that are cost-effective and consistent with best practices and corporate objectives
Plan, develop, and implement new and revised commission plans, programs, policies, and procedures to align with organizational goals and in response to changes in the workforce
Design creative solutions to specific plans and programs
Work in conjunction with HR to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations
Make recommendations based on sound data, internal comparative data, and well-thought-out analysis, to advise staff and management on targeted plans
Compile and analyze comprehensive data to identify trends, monitor internal equity, and maintain proper incentive structures
Administer processes and systems in support of departmental objectives
Partner with Finance, HR and business leaders to ensure sales plans include line-of-sight business metrics and drive intended focus and behaviors to achieve financial objectives
Provide regular timely and accurate reporting and analysis on commission compensation trending
Continually evaluate our commission business processes end-to-end with an eye toward scalability, streamlining, automation, efficiency gains, data accuracy, and business process controls
Collaborate on annual commission planning and design processes with Sales Operations, Finance, HR
Drive analytics projects to provide deep insights into commission performance and go-forward strategy implications
Ensure that sales commission training information is up to date and is administered to the entire sales organization
Provide analytical support regarding ad hoc research and other related variable pay projects as identified by leadership
Identify opportunities for process or systems improvements and work cross-functionally to bring these ideas to life
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in finance, business or related field
10-15 years of related work experience, with a minimum of 5 years planning and/or managing variable compensation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience required to complete the essential functions/job responsibilities of this position
Strong aptitude in mathematics, statistics, modeling, spreadsheets, graphing, report writing, and navigating relational databases
Strong knowledge of Sales Compensation and Commission Plan design and administration
Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, policies, and operations
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, with emphasis on Excel) or G-Suite
Experience in working with compensation tools that drive adoption and understanding of compensation programs
Understanding of foreign currency conversion
Specific Technical Skills:
Technical competencies in Sales Best Practice, CRM systems implementation and training, and maintaining data integrity across multiple systems
Expert in Salesforce
Deep domain expertise and knowledge of ICM Tools
Tableau, highly preferred
