We are a dynamic, national developer of large-scale solar + storage power projects in the U.S., backed by a major global solar IPP. Our fast-growing team of development, power markets, engineering and finance experts is steering a pipeline of over 8 GW of solar and storage projects spanning 24 US states. Our major markets are MISO, PJM and SPP and we will expand into the Pacific NW region and other bilateral markets next year.
Job DescriptionCandidate Profile
This high-impact role is suited for a strategic, proactive leader capable of shaping the commercial and development trajectory of our projects. Leveraging your comprehensive knowledge of U.S. energy markets, you will steer strategic decisions, negotiate, and structure commercial transactions, mentor junior team members, and perform in-depth analysis—all with the goal of advancing our projects to successful commercialization. You will play a pivotal role and work alongside our executives in making investment decisions, focusing on new market entry, project seeding, and M&A activities.
Position & Impact
We are first seeking candidates that can individually frame complex issues and drive strategies and transactions. Candidates should already have deep knowledge of the workings of the US utility sector, PPA and vPPAs, business development and project M&A.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Strategic Investment Initiatives: Drive impactful investment strategies by collaborating closely with leaders across project development, engineering, grid, and finance to develop robust, data-driven investment theses. Deliver structured, insightful recommendations to executive leadership on commercial strategies, including PPAs, M&A opportunities, and portfolio development.
- Transactions Support: Coordinate internal / external transaction related activities for investments/divestments of our renewable projects. Drive the transaction process by coordinating key internal functions including valuations, legal and due diligence teams. Develop relationships with key external parties – investors and developers and manage periodic communications to understand trends and opportunities.
- Market Intelligence Advisor: Maintain intelligence on key trends in renewable M&A - inbound investments, portfolio exits, strategic transactions, utility / large developer trends etc. Serve as a key advisor to project teams and C-level, providing nuanced insights on market dynamics, strategic entry points, and evaluations of legacy investments through comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Deputy to Head of Power Marketing & Analytics: Support the Head by managing essential research initiatives and leading strategic discussions with off-takers, project sellers and buyers to drive commercialization success.
- Parent Company Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for parent company stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication of key commercial activities and maintaining strategic alignment with the C-suite.
- Industry Representative & Relationship Builder: Represent the company at industry events and working groups, fostering, and strengthening valuable commercial relationships to advance our market presence.
- Mentorship & Talent Development: Guide junior team members across grid and energy markets, sharing expertise and working with HR to create clear development pathways, fostering future leadership within the team.
Ideally, you will have at least 4 years of experience in power trading, power marketing, interconnection analysis or project M&A. Experience with solar and storage project development, finance and/or technical aspect of solar engineering will also be looked upon favorably.
