Job Description:
We are seeking a Director of Surgery Administration to lead the personnel, operational, and financial activities of a large surgery department in a healthcare setting. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate professional and physician assistant support, identifying and addressing patient care and process issues, and fostering leadership across a variety of teams including physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurses, and other staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in identifying and resolving patient care and process care issues.
- Implement quality improvement programs and ongoing professional education.
- Monitor compliance with credentialing and continuing education requirements for licensed professionals.
- Assist in the development and execution of strategic plans and annual operating goals for the department.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to review and update business plans.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and industry standards.
- Develop and revise department procedures and protocols in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee personnel actions, including hiring, firing, and performance management.
- Develop and monitor the department budget.
- Foster strong working relationships with medical staff, physicians, and hospital leadership.
- Ensure diversity goals are met for department suppliers.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensure: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in healthcare.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience.
- Other Requirements:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with medical and administrative teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
