Director of Transportation Strategy & Planning - Honor Foods

Honor Foods is seeking a Director of Transportation Strategy & Planning to join our growing team. This is a senior-level role responsible for developing and implementing strategies that optimize transportation operations, ensuring cost savings, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the optimization of our regional transportation systems into a unified national system, including inbound from manufacturers, outbound customer deliveries, and intra-company shuttles.
• Oversee transportation teams across all company locations, ensuring top-tier management and efficiency.
• Collaborate with fleet and compliance staff to meet equipment needs and ensure adherence to federal and state DOT requirements.
• Develop and implement transportation strategies, annual operating plans, and budgets that support current and future business objectives.
• Create a long-term transportation strategy to reduce costs, maximize routing efficiency, increase backhaul utilization, and reduce reliance on outside carriers.
• Ensure the safety culture across all locations with a focus on continuous improvement and individual accountability.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and clear, constructive feedback to management staff while promoting a strong company culture.
• Collaborate with the Sales Department to create efficient, profitable delivery routes.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in transportation management with a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
• Strong knowledge of DOT Hours of Service regulations and transportation management software.
• Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, motivate and lead teams, and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to inspire, provide feedback, and maintain positive employee relations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analytics.
• Willingness to travel (25-50%) and potentially relocate if needed.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Able to work in varied temperatures, including freezing conditions.
• Ability to work while wearing appropriate PPE and handle products that may contain allergens.
