Our Education client based in Roxbury, MA is seeking a Director of Student Accounts to ensuring accurate enrollment, billing, timely collections, and exceptional service to students, staff and stakeholders. This role is vital in maintaining the financial stability of the institution while fostering a student-centered approach to account management and problem-solving. This position will report to the CFO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in student accounts, accounts receivable, or financial services in higher education setting.
- 2+ years management experience of 2 direct reports
- Enrollment process management
- Admissions, Advising, understanding of financial aid and distribution
- Experience in a higher education setting required
- IRS Form 1098-T experience
- MS Office, Advanced Excel, Zelle, required. Jenzabar highly preferred
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations related to higher education finance.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze reports for institutional leadership, auditors, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with the CFO/VP of Finance on budget planning and revenue forecasting.
- Monitor revenue streams and identify trends affecting collections and enrollment.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of student accounts with institutional financial systems.).
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of tuition and fee statements, compliance
- Implement and manage payment plans to assist students with tuition affordability.
- Ensure timely collections of outstanding balances and oversee delinquent accounts, including referrals to external collection agencies as needed.
- Serve as point of contact for escalated student account inquiries, providing clear explanations of charges, payments, and financial policies.
- Work collaboratively with Financial Aid, Admissions, and Registrar's offices to ensure seamless account management.
- Develop and deliver workshops, materials, and communications to educate students on payment options, deadlines, and financial literacy.
- Develop and enforce policies related to student billing, refunds, and collections in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, such as FERPA, and regulations, such as Title IV and other financial aid requirements.
