On any given day you'll:
- Set revenue goals and establish company-wide business development goals related to structural engineering.
- Participate in strategic planning and propose new services or target clients.
- Participate in bi-monthly management and business development meetings.
- Play a high-profile role in representing the firm by being active in relevant industry organizations; write articles, make conference presentations.
- Maintain the firm's reputation for high quality, proactive communication, and exceptional customer service.
- Set the strategic goals for hiring and development of structural team throughout the company. Motivate, inspire, evaluate, hire, and develop employees.
- Oversee department QA/QC plans; perform design reviews for quality assurance.
- Ensure processes, policies, and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively.
- Review and report on projects and budgets in accounting and scheduling software; oversee Project Management Templates
- Prepare and/or oversee proposals, manhour estimates, scope, and schedules for projects; maintain project scope/schedule change log.
- Sign and seal work products prepared under direct supervision within areas of competency.
- Facilitate and attend project meetings.
- Organize work, delegate, and set priorities to meet project deadlines.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Oversee equipment and software and make requests for equipment purchases.
- Function as a business owner; understand every segment of the business and how they work together; know the current market and predict changes; understand the business financial data and make decisions in the best interest of the company as a whole.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years professional engineering/structural bridge experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Professional leadership training, business development training, and project management training preferred.
- Structural Engineering license required; Illinois license preferred.
- Experience with IDOT and/or ISTHA preferred. Valid driver's license and solid driving record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic Math competencies.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, walk, reach, crouch, bend, and walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 15 lbs.

- Prolonged reading
