Director of Social Services - Sanctuary - Lutheran Social Service of New York

REPORTS TO: Assistant Shelter Director – Vanguard House 

LOCATION: Sanctuary Facility 

CLASSIFICATION:  Full...EDUCATION: 

Master’s of Social Work (Licensed preferred)or  

Bachelor’s degree with related experience. 

EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum of 2 years as a supervisor in the field of social services preferred. 

Working experience with individuals and knowledge of issues related to immigration, asylum seekers, homelessness, HIV, substance abuse, mental illness, entitlements, and domestic violence. 

SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

Strong leadership/team building/coaching skills. 

Excellent clinical skills. 

Strong writing and speaking skills.  

Excellent administrative skills; highly organized and detail oriented. 

Strong time management; able to handle multiple tasks and assignments at once. 

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). 

Bilingual (Spanish) required. 

Sensitive to intersectionality, different cultures, housing equality and a demonstrated ability to work within a social/racial justice framework. 

Knowledge of CARES system a plus. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Crisis intervention skills. 

Familiarity with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
