Director of Sales
The Director of Sales will work closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing on the overall sales strategy and the strategy for the Northeast territory, which may also include area specific assignments, will provide management for areas of the sales department, manage their own specific territory and assigned accounts, manage and develop personnel as assigned and work closely with the Business Unit leaders, engineering and in some cases, be responsible for the global strategic initiatives for large multinational customers. Essential is the ability to develop a regional market customer base and to establish strategic OEM accounts that can grow annually.
What you will be doing:
- Key member of Sales and Marketing team leadership to support the organization's development and growth
- Provide leadership for the execution of local and global strategic sales plans
- Provide leadership for the management and development of the sales team and other sales areas as assigned
- Experience with B2B Sales, including complex sales for large accounts.
- Technically competent to develop relationships with engineers and facilitate the engineer-to-engineer dialogue during the pre-sales, integration and post-sales stages.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and common scientific/technical journals, and legal documents.
- Skillful in advanced relationship selling techniques using ATL's documented methodology and training.
- Meet with Key Customers, assist buying influencers and sales representatives to cultivate relationships and closing deals.
- Coordinate yearly and quarterly sales plans as well as strategic account plans with Vice President of Sales and Salespersons
- Define long-term and short-term sales strategy for their own region and assignments.
- Develop and recommend customer product positioning and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
- Achieve a satisfactory profit margin at each account.
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key strategic customers, and internal department to get things done.
- Establish and maintain the corporate image at trade associations, trade shows, and other local events.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
- Ability to effectively present information to Global Team members, executive management, intercompany divisions and most importantly to any individual or group representing our customer.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Prior budgeting, cost scheduling and pricing decision experience a plus
- CRM use mandatory
- The ability to use your best judgment, at all times, and be accountable for methods and results, is essential for this position.
- Develop and manage the sales budget and expenses activity
What we expect from you:
- 10+ years of OEM sales and preferably large account management required.
- Ideally with familiarity in the interconnect, cable, connector field.
- Knowledge, understanding and success in complex sales scenarios
- Proven OEM hardware sales success with the following competencies:
- Solution selling
- Relationship building
- Professional account management
- Prospecting
- Negotiating skills
- College education - undergraduate degree or higher preferred
- Preference is a Bachelor of Science (EE, ME, Physics)
- MBA a plus
