Plastic injection molding company with multiple manufacturing locations has an excellent opportunity available for a Director of Sales. This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in California.
This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of the sales and marketing programs directed toward existing and new customers. It is intimately responsible for the development of profitable business through making contacts with new customers, developing service and pricing strategies which satisfy the needs of those customers, and assisting operations with the service of those customers. It is also responsible for the expansion of relationships with existing customers by maintaining excellent relationships, understanding their future needs and guiding engineering and operations in satisfying those needs in a cost-efficient manner. Position will manager 2 Business Development Managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identifies new market areas and establishes new accounts in these markets.
- Contacts, pursues, follows up, and develops new leads and existing customers.
- Manages and directs the activities of customer service, focused on satisfying customer needs in a cost-efficient manner.
- Establishes sales forecasts and sets new target accounts.
- Sets marketing goals and ensures goals are met.
- Manages all new accounts up to production release.
- Interfaces with customers and purchasing, tooling, engineering, quality, and other department to resolve problems.
- Establish and maintain marketing campaigns, which focus on establishing the company as a leader in providing engineering, molding and assembly services.
- Resolves problems related to both internal and external customers.
- Responsible for staffing, disciplinary action of employees, safety, employee evaluations, and the carrying out of company policies within Sales department.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have strong B to B sales background in the custom plastics manufacturing industry.
- The ideal candidate will possess a plastics engineering background related to part and tool design, material selection, and design for manufacturability.
- Knowledge of the injection molding process, materials, tooling, manufacturing techniques, and product design.
- Proven track record in selling processes to sophisticated customers in a highly competitive environment—5-7 years
- Extensive knowledge of internal and external sales processes including new media
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lead in a complex structure with strong personalities
- Requires outstanding judgment, initiative and the ability to deal with complex problems and work toward results, devising new approaches to problems.
- Ability to effectively organize and plan daily activities and special projects.
- Ability to gather information, analyze and present data, articulate recommendations and implement appropriate action.
Five years’ experience in marketing/sales with tooling, plastics manufacturing company with proven supervisory skills. Experience in plastic injection molding or plastics processing is a must.

Bachelor of Science—Engineering or Business Administration
