We are on the hunt for a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales who is passionate about the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sector, specifically within the Manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate is a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record in business development, food manufacturing, and retail/wholesale distribution. This role requires a deep understanding of the pizza, baked goods, bakery, and cheese markets, and the ability to manage private label products. Additionally, the candidate must hold a CA food handler certification. The role requires a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
As the Permanent Director of Sales, you will be responsible for:
1. Developing and implementing strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and objectives.
2. Identifying new business opportunities and expanding the company's customer base in the retail and wholesale sectors.
3. Managing key customer relationships and participating in closing strategic opportunities.
4. Leading the sales team to drive sales growth, ensuring that they meet or exceed sales targets.
5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement product strategies.
6. Managing and overseeing the private label product portfolio.
7. Providing market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs, and generating product development ideas.
8. Navigating complex business processes and acting as a key liaison between the customer and internal teams.
9. Ensuring all food handling and safety standards are met in compliance with CA regulations.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a sales leadership role within the CPG industry, specifically in food manufacturing.
2. Proven track record of achieving sales growth and business development objectives.
3. Extensive knowledge of the pizza, baked goods, bakery, and cheese markets.
4. Experience in managing retail and wholesale distribution channels.
5. Proficiency in managing private label products.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
7. Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
8. A valid CA food handler certification.
9. Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close deals.
10. Ability to travel as needed.
