Role Description
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Sales & Business Development will be pivotal in driving SIY Global’s growth, focusing on strategy, accelerated revenue generation, and long-term organizational sustainability through account retention. B2B sales experience to HR and/or Learning & Development departments, specifically with mid-market and Fortune 500 clients is a must.
This role will begin as a working Sales Leader, managing our current salesperson with the intent to grow to a full sales team over the next 24 months. The individual will be comfortable leading and coaching as well as personally acquiring new logos during this growth period. As a sales role model you will hold both team revenue accountability and an individual revenue goal. You will oversee sales and business development strategies, collaborating closely with marketing, customer success, and product teams to boost revenue and expand our client base in the L & D market. The Director will lead a small team, manage and grow client accounts and foster cross-functional collaboration with marketing and product teams. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive leader who is excited to build a robust sales organization while also comfortable expanding SIY’s reach to influential organizations through personal sales.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the business unit: the Director represents the sales team on SIY Global's executive team, providing timely updates on revenue forecast user insights, and client/market needs.
- Growth: the Director is responsible for growing the team’s and organization’s revenue by a) leading sales and client cultivation strategies in alignment with SIY Global’s focus on lead generation of new logos and growth of existing customer accounts, b) coordinating with the marketing and product teams to influence the design and delivery of new offerings, and c) developing and communicating a deep understanding of client needs and industry trends.
- Provides day-to-day support for sales team members in strategic client conversations and opportunities.
- Ensure sales team members develop and maintain a portfolio and pipeline strategy quarterly and annual fiscal year goals and maintain daily CRM interface and update.
- Cross-functional collaboration:
- Work closely with Marketing team leadership to execute an account-based revenue strategy; ideally with experience using technologies such as 6sense or similar.
- Work closely with the Director of Customer Success to grow revenue in existing accounts.
- Will collaborate with Global Head of Product on a value-based standardized pricing strategy.
- Platform subscription sales: the Director will collaborate with the Global Head of Product to design and execute a sales strategy for subscriptions to the SIY Global digital B2B learning platform.
- Public speaking: the Director will be a visible face of SIY Global, holding webinars, delivering keynotes, conference presentations, or other speaking events on behalf of SIY Global.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate evidence of the following skills, capabilities and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years B2B sales and sales leadership experience required, with prior experience selling into the HR and/or Learning & Development departments at local/national/global mid-market and Fortune 500 companies. We will consider successful strategic account salespeople who have extensive experience leading account pursuit teams for this role.
- Experience growing, coaching and managing a sales and business development team and delivering on revenue goals; experience working with marketing and product teams on organizational strategy for growth.
- Demonstrated expertise in sales technology use and knowledge of selection and implementation, with the ability to assess, adopt, and leverage the right tools to drive sales effectiveness and streamline processes.
- Dynamic public speaking skills and ability to present on topics connected to emotional intelligence for clients and at public events.
- Experience driving end-to-end sales process, including everything from lead qualification, pitching, negotiating solutions, closing and implementing contracts, and retaining and growing clients.
- A passion for offering a solution that trains leadership and employee populations in global organizations, understanding their specific business needs, and closing new deals.
- Learning agility and interest in becoming an expert on SIY solutions and overall capabilities while maintaining a growth mindset with a focus on continuous development and improvement.
- Strong relational skills and an ability to connect with a wide variety of people remotely (via email, phone, video calls) as well as in-person.
- Experience collaborating with Product teams in a sales-driven culture.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial mentality with the willingness to move between strategic, tactical and client needs throughout your workday.
- Ability to work in ambiguous and vague environments and drive activity independently.
Location: Remote/flexible within the United States. SIY Global has an activity-based office policy, with 1-2 visits to the San Francisco headquarters expected for executive team members. We expect to remain a fully remote workforce; operating from our offices in the Presidio of San Francisco is an option for those who choose to take it.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
Base salary beginning at $150k + highly competitive incentive compensation, including accelerators for exceeding plans + equity component.
