Responsibilities:
- Develop programs, procedures, systems, and training to ensure complete understanding of all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
- Interacts (coaching, directing and teaching) with employees on a consistent day-to-day basis to ensure they are in compliance.
- Conduct in-progress job site safety reviews to confirm that all sites meet safety requirements.
- During job site inspections, informs foreman if any job site conditions pose a potential threat to other trades or the public in, on or around the site. Ensure corrections are made.
- Interfaces with clients as Company liaison on safety and health matters as needed.
- Prepares site specific safety plans as need to support projects and operations. Jobsite Hazard Analysis reports.
- Sets goals and objectives for improving upon safety performance.
- Keeps management apprised of requirements and/or potential problems and recommends corrective action as needed. Prepares reports as requested to document activities and actions.
- Works in concert with management to promote a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
- Conducts accident investigations and properly documents and reports all incidents.
- Participates in incident investigations.
- Maintains all records as required by corporate and OSHA regulations.
- Represent the company with OSHA inspections, citations and hearings when required or requested.
- Works with other managers to address and resolve employee safety & health concerns.
- Assist the sales team and estimators in developing bid and proposal packages where safety documentation is required as part of the bid package.
- Work with service and production team members on a daily basis to maintain focus on implementing safe work practices for smaller projects.
- Assist production team by attending preconstruction meetings as required.
- Develop and direct the activities of all safety and health related employee involvement teams.
- Lead training programs for new and current company employees for company required safety, material handling, or equipment certification.
- Administer the vehicle and driver safety program for the company.
- Schedule training for all employees to remain in compliance with safety guidelines: Fall Protection, OSHA standards, CERTA Torch safety, Aerial and Forklift, Crane Signals/ Rigging and all other training as needed.
- Maintain the ISN Network Web Site for Special Projects.
- Maintain the company Safety Manual.
- Has the authority to stop work if life threatening conditions exists, or the potential for such conditions exists.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
- Review accident investigation reports that have been completed by supervisors and recommends root-causing analysis toward the prevention of recurring injuries, incidents and accidents.
- Manage workers compensations cases. Follow procedures to ensure employees are able to come back to work. Qualifications:
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills; customer service.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
- Proficient user of Excel, MS Word and web-based software systems.
- Knowledge of roofing related products and installation methods.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Very organized individual with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Positive upbeat personality, strong communicator with good listening skills.
- A minimum 5 years of experience in safety for the general construction industry. Experience within the roofing industry is preferred.
- Four (4) year degree from an accredited university.
- OSHA 30-hour certification mandatory. OSHA 500 certification preferred.
- Bi-lingual preferred but not required. Special Position Requirements
- Sit, stand, walk, climb and balance.
- Stoop, crouch and step over obstacles.
- Lift and/or move 50 lbs.
- Work in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, cold/hot temperatures and humidity.
