Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a leading medical center in Las Vegas, NV, to find an experienced and highly skilled Director of Risk Management. This critical role will oversee the hospital's risk management program, ensuring patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Description:
The Director of Risk Management is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of patient safety and risk management activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Claim Management: Overseeing investigation, analysis, and resolution of claims.
- Risk Assessments: Conducting thorough risk assessments for new services and procedures.
- Root Cause Analysis: Leading root cause analysis for the system, including action plan tracking and facilitation.
- Patient Safety Council: Managing the Patient Safety Council and integrating the corporate TERM program.
- Collaboration: Working with department directors and executives to implement risk reduction strategies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, such as The Joint Commission and CMS/Client Regulations.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilizing data to identify trends and inform decision-making.
- Education and Leadership: Providing risk management education and training to staff.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field required, Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years of Risk Management experience; acute care experience preferred. Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience in a related field preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and hospital software programs.
- License/Certification: Current RN license in Nevada if Registered Nurse. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
- Other:
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission.
- Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times.
- Possesses strong leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as interact well with the public.
- Deep knowledge of risk management sub-functions and solid knowledge of overall departmental function.
- Thorough knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
- Application of techniques such as RCA, FMEA, and other quality tools.
- Detailed understanding of regulatory principles, standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Understanding of statistical analysis.
- Six Sigma ( "Lean ") knowledge preferred.
