Position Summary:
The Director of Procurement at TwinMed is responsible for overseeing the purchasing operations across all distribution centers, ensuring the timely availability of products, optimizing inventory levels, and managing supplier relationships. This leadership position will focus on supplier performance, driving purchasing strategies, and ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining cost controls and achieving key performance metrics.
In this role, you will directly lead and manage the purchasing team. You will work directly with senior management from Planning, Logistics, Sales, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing, and you will provide leadership and direction on a cross-functional basis to meet customer service levels, inventory levels and other financial objectives

Key Responsibilities:
•Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring product availability, timely deliveries, and favorable pricing. Lead negotiations for favorable terms and conditions.
•Inventory Optimization: Oversee inventory management across all distribution centers to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock outs and excess/obsolescence, balancing product availability with cost efficiency.
•Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers. Ensure the team is equipped with the skills and resources to perform their responsibilities efficiently.
•Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to improve purchasing processes, reduce lead times, and optimize costs, especially given the challenges of large shipments from overseas suppliers.
•Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including product availability, supplier performance, and inventory days on hand. Use data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
•Data Analysis: Utilize tools like the Slim4 planning system and Power BI to monitor purchasing trends, supplier performance, and inventory levels, making data-driven decisions to ensure optimal procurement operations.
•Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all purchasing practices are compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
•Problem Resolution: Address challenges related to long lead times, overseas supplier delays, and other supply chain disruptions, working proactively to mitigate impact on operations.
•Collaboration: Collaborate with the merchandising team to ensure alignment between inventory levels and buying strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, finance) to ensure smooth information flow and aligned goals.
•Cost Savings: Identify cost-saving opportunities throughout the inventory lifecycle.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
•Proven experience in supplier negotiations, supply chain management, and inventory optimization.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform decision-making and improve purchasing performance. Experiences with Power BI or other analytics tools.
•Knowledge of supply chain concepts, inventory management principles, and forecasting methodologies.
•Strong skills in utilizing ERP systems with high level of expertise in MRP logic.
•Good understanding of inventory optimization logic and network inventory optimization logic.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and lead a team effectively.
•Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
•Experience in the healthcare distribution industry, particularly within the post-acute market, is desirable.
•APICS certifications
•Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
Must pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
