The Director of Operations is a dynamic leader. He/she oversees the standards and performance of the operations in partnership with the executive leadership team. Directs a team of Area Directors that oversees 30 restaurants throughout 5 markets. This position is responsible for generating approximately $11M in EBITDA.
Essential Duties
- Manages and drives the financial progress of the restaurants on an ongoing basis, including generating sales and profits to ensure that budgeted targets are achieved. Works closely with executive leadership to develop and execute strategies towards operational goals.
- Ensures that restaurants are operating in accordance with Sonny's BBQ Brand Standards.
- Helps develops detailed restaurant budgets annually.
- Works with Marketing team on sales strategies to counter the effectiveness of present and emerging competitors.
- Works with executive leadership to analyze company financial performance and institutes strategies for improvement.
- Conducts structured Market visits to validate operational standards are consistent. This position requires working in restaurants 75% of the week.
- Conducts meetings with the Operations Team.
- Addresses employee issues quickly in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Selects, trains, develops and coaches Area Directors & General Managers, ensuring they have the tools and training to perform.
- Ensures that all key management positions are filled with quality candidates and that turnover/stability targets are achieved while identifying future leaders.
- Responsibilities also include building successful teams, facilitating hands-on training, strategic analysis, and participation in companywide communication.
- Ensures restaurant teams are compliant with ACG BBQ's policies and procedures.
- Minimizes guest and team member's workplace injuries through a commitment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7-10 years of progressive management experience including multi-location restaurant environments.
- Proven success as a multi-unit operator within a chain restaurant company.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and project management a plus.
- Competitive in the pursuit of excellent results.
- Self-reliant achiever with high standards.
- Understand financial metrics and can make recommendations around costs and ROI.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility to meet multiple demands in concurrent timelines.
