The Director, Operations provides leadership and employee development, satisfies customer needs, and achieves operational performance for each of the different services in their assigned location.
Your day will look like this:
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to establish short, medium and long-term objectives that are specific to the department’s services and that are aligned with business growth projects, then implement action plans derived from these objectives
- Coordinate and allocate projects within the team by using a structured approach (schedules, budgets, specific expectations; clear communication, tight follow-ups) to ensure efficient and profitable project delivery
- Ensure the quality and consistency of projects and systems by ensuring that Solotech’s standards and those stipulated in the contracts are applied
- Ensure effective and productive communication between the Project Office and other departments within the company, including the sales representative team, the sales support team and the technical services team
- Establish and maintain communication with clients, general contractors and architects, and act as a liaison for certain key files
- In collaboration with the controller of the division, ensure control over personal budget and project budgets
- Analyze business sector performance, recommend solutions to operational issues and present the costs and benefits of suggested approaches
- Standardize all operations to ensure maximal efficiency and performance of invested resources
- Carry out best management practices such as the use of continuous improvement techniques and key performance indicators to evaluate the use of labor and equipment. Provide active leadership, guidance and mentorship to ensure employee development
- In collaboration with the Vice President, Sales & Integration and other managers, prepare the annual budget for the department’s business sector, enforce it, and ensure maximum return on the resources allocated to it
- In collaboration with their team and the HR department, focus on employee mobility, workforce management, skills development, succession planning and recruitment
- Ensure the development of work standards, as well as the implementation and enforcement of workplace health and safety policies
- Conduct effective operational meetings with internal partners that focus on the continuous improvement of operations and project delivery;
- Forecast inventory of raw materials based on current and future projects
- Perform quality control of projects prepared for delivery and ensure that they comply with the company’s standards
- In collaboration with the Vice President, Sales & Integration, participate in the development and deployment of continuous improvement and employee engagement plans
- Negotiate agreements with service providers and operations, if required
- Team management: evaluate and manage performance; establish objectives, identify and fulfill workforce needs, training and development of their team
- Act as a person of resource for clients and suppliers for procedural or customer service issues
- Collaborate with all company stakeholders to ensure unparalleled customer service
- Will be responsible for reviewing and approving timesheets
- Perform any other related task required by management
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, operations management, continuous improvement or any
- other related educational or work experience.
- 10 years of experience in operations management, in employee management and continuous
- Experience in Project Management
- Experience in Audio Visual strongly preferred
- Must possess a strong fiscal aptitude and have experience with managing budgets and a P&L
- Construction industry experience highly desirable
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to mobilize employees
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to read shop plans and drawings
- Excellent employee management, team development and coaching skills
- Ability to establish strong work relationships at all levels of the organization as well as with external clients
- Ability to manage frequent and/or unexpected changes
- Proven adaptability and interest in being part of a growing organization
- Excellent analytical skills
- Available for variable work schedules if needed (evenings and weekends)
- Available in the event of a call from the alarm center or other emergency
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to anticipate problems and find effective solutions while respecting the company’s policies and business processes.
