GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direct supervision of the Division Director, the Director of Operations is responsible for administering and managing the operation of assigned Chimes Virginia Residential and Day Program services, and the identification of needed program and services enhancements or transformations to be compliant with evolving state and federal requirements. The Director of Operations leads and develops a team of professionals who are responsible for daily operations of various programs. The Director of Operations uses project management skills to develop and implement new and/or expanded initiatives and manages necessary organizational change. The Director of Operation assists the Division Director with coordinating and monitoring programs and fiscal operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Salary: $100,000-$110,000IDD experience is mandatory.PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION(S):

REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to human services, business administration or management.EXPERIENCE: Eight years of experience with leading and managing senior/middle staff and operating programs for people with intellectual disabilities or other transferable human services operations. Demonstrated skill in the areas of residential programming, day rehab programming, vocational programming, and agency administration.OTHER: Must work flexible schedule to meet agency needs, have strong work ethic, be innovative, earn respect of people served and staff, work with people of diverse backgrounds and range of skills, dedicated to success of the organization, produce high quality work, make high quality decisions, demonstrate proactive leadership, holds others accountable. Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy. - Manages the daily operations of the Chimes Virginia Day and Residential Services, which includes leadership, operational, programmatic, financial and budget activities.
- Creates and promotes a work environment which encourages recognition, communication, professional development and teamwork while demonstrating a commitment to Agency Values, Mission and Goals.
- In conjunction with Division Director, determine and implement necessary program and services modifications to allow continued compliance with state and federal mandates while ensuring delivery of quality services to persons served.
- Provides regular direction, and supervision to Division Managers, House Managers, Program Supervisors, Assistant Directors, Lead staff and Direct Support Professionals who are responsible for effective and efficient daily program operations.
- Reviews and analyzes department and program operations to evaluate performance and identify potential modifications for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensures that assigned departments/programs adhere to agency goals, objectives, and strategies.
- Ensures operations and programs are in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and accreditation requirements, taking corrective action as needed.
- Takes necessary action in emergency situations in accordance with Agency policies and procedures and reports such incidents according to Agency protocols.
- Reviews performance metrics on a regular basis and ensures corrective action as needed.
- Ensures adherence to Agency policies and procedures and participates in development and/or revision to same.
- Advocates for individuals served.
- Uses project management skills to implement or expand agency initiatives.
- Develops and implements proactive strategies to respond to changes in operations due to legal or regulatory mandates.
- Participates in select recruitment or termination proceedings with Human Resources.
- Develops, revises, and approves job descriptions for direct reports and select staff.
- Promotes the professional development of staff and ensures compliance with regulatory and Agency training requirements.
- Conducts and ensures constructive and timely performance appraisals.
- Attends bi-weekly meetings as needed with HR, Compliance, Finance, Facilities to ensure timely and appropriate communications.
- Promotes effective and efficient organization communication.
- Participates in mentoring programs and oversees professional development plans to increase leadership capacity within the organization.
- Promotes positive public relations with other public and private organizations, funders, regulators, families and the general public.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of various fiscal, programmatic and operational reports.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of articles for Chimes Times and Sounding Chimes.
- Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings and other activities to facilitate professional development.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
- Keeps the Alignment for Overtime and Temp Usage and informs Division Director regarding status of programs and initiatives and all emergent situations.
- Contributes to a work atmosphere in a manner which is positive, enthusiastic, respectful and courteous.
SECONDARY FUNCTION(S):
- Works cooperatively and effectively with Agency volunteers maximizing the volunteers' experience while meeting the needs of individuals served and the programs.
- Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties.
