SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Director of Operations will provide tactical and strategic leadership over all aspects of the delivery of products, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely operations that enable total customer satisfaction, company profitability, and growth. Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to effectively transform current processes using best practices for change management and operational efficiency, quality, and effectiveness. This role will have full responsibility for the following areas: production, safety, planning, production control, inventory, shipping, receiving, and facilities/maintenance. The Director of Operations has direct responsibility for achieving product quality, on-time delivery, continuous improvement and cost reduction goals. The role is also responsible for developing and maintaining a culture of improvement and learning while achieving customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
+ Lead all aspects of production including, work centers, capital expenditures, direct labor staffing, procurement and inventory management, forecasting and managing production capacity, yield improvement and cost reduction, efficient process development, career development of direct and indirect reports, and workplace safety. + Ensure appropriate staffing levels of qualified personnel to meet current requirements; devise strategic and tactical plans to meet future staffing requirements and to raise staff performance levels. + Create and implement effective, deterministic, operations-related processes and procedures. Ability to become an expert practitioner of the IDEX Operating model. + Ensure that facilities are structured to meet present and future operations requirements, including definition and proposal of building and layout modifications, and proposal and justification of capital equipment expenditures. + Ensure manufacturing operations are completed in standard times and at standard costs; in the event of variances, determine root cause and ensure implementation of effective corrective actions. + Manage all production processes to assure that manufacturing consistently ships quality product on time. + Maintain current ISO certification by following ISO policies and processes, participating and managing audits, and training employees as required. + Responsible for planning and executing Annual Operating Plans and overall responsibility for achieving Manufacturing Profit targets. + Improve manufacturing and material management processes through use of LEAN principles and productivity measurements. + Drive JDE and follow-on improvements to the ERP system functionality in order to facilitate better decision making and efficiency. + Develop and implement effective supply-chain management practices to reduce overall costs, improve product quality and assure stable sources of supply. + Manage preventive maintenance program for equipment and tooling in support of process and product excellence. + Drive safety throughout Operations and identify preventive plans to prevent accidents. + Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ B.S. degree required, advanced degree highly preferred. Seven or more years in a related manufacturing operations management position. + Lean Certified preferred
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
+ Demonstrated operational experience with results driven through continuous improvement with sustained results utilizing techniques such as Daily Management, Root Cause Counter Measures, and Lean Manufacturing principles + Must be able to lead and drive change of production operations. Must be results oriented. Must be innovative, and able to implement conceived innovations + Business Savvy – Must understand how actions impact the business (growth, cost, working capital and profit) both in the short and long term. + Ability to work through conflict and appreciate the points of view of other functions inside and outside of the organization + Functional computer literacy with standard Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
