Job description/Responsibilities: Full Time - 40 Hours AM Shift JOB SUMMARY: Director of Nursing for the Subacute unit has a 24 hours responsibility for the administrative, organizational and professional management of the Subacute Unit. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating services provided on the subacute unit. Maintains the standards for regulatory compliance, Screens and evaluates potential Sub-Acute residents for admission, Maintain and promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, and effective communication at all levels to ensure responsiveness to patient needs. The DON reports directly to the CNO of the hospital who is the designee of the administrator (CEO) for this unit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Clear and concise and current written policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors. 2. Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy forming conferences for patient care services. Maintain close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services. 3. Plans and recommends to C NO new equipment or modifications thereto needed to provide patient care. 4. Plans and coordinates with Finance, utilizing the respective service managers for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, the performance of work, supplies, and equipment. 5. Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved departmental budgets. 6. Participates in Medical Staff departmental meetings. 7. Supports an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. 8. All duties as assigned or requested.

Required Qualification: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Must have a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California. 2. BLS Provider Card upon hire and maintained current. 3. Minimum of 5 years of Acute Care experience. 4. Minimum of 2 years previous Administrative experience in Skilled Facility (subacute unit) preferred. 5. Masters Degree in Nursing preferred; Bachelor's of Nursing required. 6. Completion of or willingness/ ability to complete CDC Infection Preventionist Course and Director of Staff Development Course work/exam.
