GENERAL SUMMARY
Oversees and improves the quality of the nursing department. Acts as a resource and advocate for nursing personnel and assists non-clinical employees when needed. Resolves nursing complaints. Monitors nursing performance, compliance and errors and develops a plan of correction. Screens and interviews nursing candidates and mental health specialists. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with leaders in all divisions. Assist with skills, training, and educational tools for clinical and non-clinical staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides system-wide nursing services planning, effective direction to and leadership of all nursing resources including but not limited to: effective financial management, development of nursing services strategy and goals, accurate and timely reporting of goals and performance to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
- Provides leadership in setting the standards of professional conduct for the nursing staff within the organization.
- Advises the Chief Medical Officer on nursing and administrative problems; confers regularly with and reports to the CMO.
- Supervises and evaluates the services provided by the nursing staff and implements changes as necessary; consults with and advises the organization's leadership teams (i.e., executive leadership, medical directors, vice presidents, medical providers) on administrative directives, regulatory policies and procedures.
- Responsible for oversight of all administrative aspects of nursing services resources for the Center; including death reviews.
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Screens and interviews nursing candidates. Identifies necessary skills required for various positions and ensures quality candidates.
- Monitors nursing performance, compliance and errors, develops a plan of correction, and provides additional training as needed.
- Monitors medication errors across the Center. Develops a plan of correction and provides additional training as needed.
- Assists with the development and conducting of centralized communication and structured training and in-services to CHCS nursing personnel on updates and improvements to nursing protocols and standards of nursing practice, as needed to meet identified needs of the agency.
- Participates in audits and peer reviews to ensure deviations from nursing practice standards are identified, and effective corrections implemented.
- Provides nursing input and provides appropriate reporting and recommendations.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and seven (7) years of experience in nursing management roles.
Licenses or Certifications
- Current Licensure in Texas as an RN
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Nursing and Health Management
SUPERVISION
- Work requires managing and monitoring work performance by directing multiple groups of employees across more than one business function, including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
- Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care.
Compensation Package
Salary Range: $103,415.00 – $155,123.00 Per Year
