About the Job
A New York City-based healthcare network is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their brand-new comprehensive outpatient oncology department, including a state-of-the-art infusion cancer center in Queens as their new Director of Patient Care, Oncology Services.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Patient Care, Oncology Services will:
- Oversee 24-hour operational management of designated units, including staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and payroll for the infusion center, radiation oncology, and patient support services
- Ensure accuracy of patient orders and drive improvements in patient experience through daily rounding, service recovery, and compassionate, culturally sensitive care
- Monitor performance improvement (PI) metrics and regulatory compliance across the cancer center, while revising the Quality Improvement Plan and submitting quarterly reports
- Serve as the primary clinical oncology resource, providing education to nursing staff and overseeing the Nurse Navigator program
- Collaborate with physicians and administrators to achieve cancer center goals and maintain accreditation
- Implement and evaluate quality improvement initiatives, communicating results to the Oncology Service Line Administrator and QI Committee
- Foster a positive work environment focused on employee well-being, engagement, and development, including staff training and collaboration with HR on talent management
- Demonstrate transformational leadership, promoting a culture of accountability, growth, and exceptional patient care
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Oncology nursing
- 2+ years of managerial nursing experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Advanced Practice Acute Care Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- OCN Certification, Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification
- ACLS, BLS, and Staff Development certifications
- Basic knowledge of regulatory agency requirements
