Director of Nursing - Emergency Services
Location: Turlock, CA
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead the Emergency Services department at our partner medical center in Turlock, CA. This is a crucial leadership role, requiring a strong clinical background, exceptional management skills, and a passion for providing high-quality emergency care.
Responsibilities
- Overall Management: Provide comprehensive leadership and oversight of the Emergency Department's 24/7 operations, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to all regulatory standards.
- Patient Care Excellence: Champion a patient-centered approach, fostering a culture of compassion, safety, and continuous quality improvement within the ED.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a highly skilled and motivated team of nurses and support staff. Provide ongoing training, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Clinical Expertise: Maintain a strong clinical knowledge base and stay abreast of the latest advancements in emergency medicine practices and technologies. Ensure the ED team is equipped with the necessary skills to provide top-notch care.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage the department's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation. Optimize staffing levels to meet patient demand and ensure efficient operations.
- Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with physicians, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care and organizational success. Act as a liaison between the ED and other areas of the hospital.
- Performance Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction. Monitor key performance indicators and implement evidence-based practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Emergency Preparedness: Ensure the ED is prepared to handle a variety of emergency situations, including mass casualty incidents and natural disasters. Develop and implement emergency response plans and protocols.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN.
- Preferred: MSN or Master's in a healthcare-related field.
- Experience:
- Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience with progressive leadership.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current State of California RN license.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) certification within 1 year of hire.
