The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the nursing operations within a 200+ bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility. The DON ensures the highest standards of care for residents by managing nursing staff, implementing effective policies, and maintaining a supportive and professional work environment. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong supervisory and organizational skills, dedicated to promoting resident health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Supervision: Lead and supervise all nursing personnel within the facility, ensuring a high standard of care and professional conduct.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Recruitment and Retention: Oversee the hiring process and ongoing employment of nursing staff, ensuring that staffing levels are adequate and skills remain current.
- Employee Conduct: Monitor and manage nursing staff performance and conduct, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
- Incident Management: Stay informed about incidents within the facility and ensure appropriate responses and documentation.
- Resident Health Assessment: Conduct thorough health assessments for each resident and collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in long-term care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Demonstrated strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a commitment to high-quality care and staff development.
