About the Job
The Director of Mission Advancement will foster the mission and ministries of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province through the promotion of the public image of the Congregation and will seek to increase the financial resources though fundraising. This is to be achieved by implementing a comprehensive fundraising, marketing, public relations and communication strategy through collaboration with the Leadership Team and other departments.
Specific Responsibilities:
The Director of Mission Advancement will perform duties inclusive of the following:
- Direct all aspects of fund development including annual, major and planned giving, capital efforts and the administration and reporting of department activities
- Identify and cultivate major donors
- Research foundations and prepare grant proposals
- Establish an Advisory Board to assist in the accomplishment of Mission Advancement objectives
- Oversee the creation and implementation of a planned giving program
- Develop and implement annual programs and solicitations
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of prospect lists for annual fund gifts, endowments and planned giving
- Establish a mailing plan and implement a direct mail program
- Process grant submissions with reporting and follow-up
- Implement correspondence protocols and systems for cultivation, requests, thanks and follow-up
- Effectively promote Mission Advancement to both internal and external constituencies through education
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Mission Advancement office staff
- Develop and manage the department’s annual budget
- Provide an annual report to the Province Leadership team and Sisters of the Province
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships
- Generate content for internal and external publications and social media, including ENews and newsletters for donor distribution, with oversight by PLT
- Work collaboratively with other department heads to achieve the goals of the Mission Advancement Office, as well as with Congregational Offices as needed
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of the organization’s goals and values
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience and ability in communicating the mission, vision, values, and compelling cases to multiple audiences, one-on-one, and through formal proposals, correspondence and presentations
- Knowledge of Catholic fundraising and culture
- Hands on familiarity with direct mail, grants management, planning giving, special events
- Working knowledge of technological platforms such as Microsoft Office, computerized constituent management systems and marketing/communications including Constant Contact and Raiser's Edge
Qualifications:
- Minimum of BA/BS, Master's Preferred
- 5-7 years’ experience in Mission Advancement (development and fundraising) in non-profit organizations
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
