This role can be based in the SF/Bay area or Orange County, CA
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Marketing, reporting to the Chief Business Officer (CBO). We are looking for a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit, an eager problem solver who is accountable, resourceful, and collaborative across multiple functional areas. Must be willing and able to flex across multiple operational needs. This position is a unique opportunity to establish and build the organization’s presence in the ophthalmology space and help shape our go-to-market strategy.
The near-term focus on the role will be:
Early go-to-market strategy and planning including the communication strategy
Competitive intelligence/market landscape analysis and monitoring
KOL engagement, including Advisory Board planning and conference strategy
Market research & stakeholder Insights
Commercial opportunity assessments & forecasting
Collaborating with CBO with interim corporate responsibilities such as:
Corporate branding
Corporate communications including social media/digital
Culture building initiatives
Portfolio strategy
Preparation for BOD meetings and investor presentations
Cross functional business operations initiatives
Required Skills and Background:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Science, or similar required. MBA highly preferred
8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech sales and marketing experience, with recent experience in Ophthalmology required. Retina experience highly preferred
Upstream marketing/early launch planning experience
Scientific & business acumen to inform product strategy, positioning, & messaging
Experience with KOL engagement, congress and advisory board planning
Demonstrated capabilities leveraging Digital & Social Media channels
Ability to collaborate effectively within the company (cross department and with all levels of the organization)
Experience with sales forecasting and expense budgeting
Expert in PowerPoint, Excel and competent with Canva
Able to travel (25%)
The expected base pay range for this position is $175,000 - $230,000 plus bonus and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
