About the Job

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Logistics to lead their logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in logistics management, preferably in the retail industry, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence and cost efficiencies. The Director of Logistics will oversee all aspects of logistics, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution, to ensure seamless and efficient supply chain operations.

Responsibilities:

Devise and execute strategic plans and initiatives to enhance logistics operations and drive supply chain efficiency.
Manage transportation operations, including carrier selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Oversee warehousing and distribution activities, including inventory management and order fulfillment, to meet customer demands while minimizing expenses.
Lead cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and best practices that streamline operations and foster continuous improvement.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and operations, to align logistics strategies with business objectives and customer requirements.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate logistics performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations.
Manage logistics budget and expenses, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control measures, to achieve financial targets and maximize profitability.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in logistics management (must have experience at the Director level).
Experience in the retail industry preferred.
MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to drive operational excellence and cost efficiencies.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams to achieve results.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.

the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
