Compensation: $170k-175k Base Salary, Bonus UP TO 200K Total Compensation.

SUMMARY:
Vaco is conducting a search on behalf of a growing organization seeking a Director of IT to oversee and manage its IT infrastructure, cloud operations, and support services. This strategic, hands-on leadership role requires a technical expert with a proven track record in managing complex IT environments and leading small, high-performing teams. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of IT will provide leadership across the organization’s IT infrastructure, including AWS cloud operations, legacy infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency. The role involves participating in cyber operations, web operations, production operations, server operations, and cloud operations. The organization is seeking a leader who can assess current needs, develop a strategic plan, and build a small team to support and optimize operations. The IT environment includes a combination of legacy on-premises systems and modern cloud-based infrastructure, supported by a mix of in-house and outsourced resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cloud Operations Management: Oversee AWS environments, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and security. Manage AWS spend and vendor relationships to maintain budgetary control and operational excellence.
- Office 365 Administration: Lead deployment, administration, and ongoing management of Microsoft 365 to support collaboration and productivity.
- Legacy Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain on-premises IT infrastructure, ensuring security, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Infrastructure Leadership: Oversee ISP, network, and phone systems to ensure reliable communication and connectivity.
- Service Desk Supervision: Manage IT service desk functions to resolve technical issues promptly and ensure outstanding user support.
- Cybersecurity Management: Implement and oversee cybersecurity measures, conduct risk analysis, perform security audits, and ensure compliance with ISO standards or similar frameworks.
- Strategic IT Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term technology roadmaps and execute tactical plans.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage budgets, forecast expenses, and ensure effective allocation of resources.
- Policy and Compliance Management: Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation to align with regulations and security standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to streamline IT operations and reduce costs.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a small IT team while fostering innovation and collaboration.
- 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Experience must be HANDS-ON and highly technical.
- *Deep expertise in AWS cloud environments including cloud security, including cost management and vendor relationships is a must-have
- Experienced in Microsoft 365 deployment and administration.
- Knowledgeable in managing hybrid IT environments, including both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Skilled in cybersecurity, risk analysis, and performing security audits in compliance with ISO standards or frameworks.
- Familiar with ISP, network, and phone system management (Phone/Wi-Fi and Cisco Meraki.)
- Working knowledge of ITIL and ITSM frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage IT service desks and deliver exceptional user support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with teams and senior leadership.
- Adept at process improvement, cost optimization, and aligning IT operations with business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven ability to build and grow high-performing teams.
- Candidates must reside in the Greater-Austin Area, the position has hybrid flexibility (1-day per week in office) but onsite work will be needed so need someone close to commute to worksite as required.
