The Director of Innovation plays a crucial role in driving the strategic direction of product development and process improvement initiatives within Shaw Industries. This position requires a forward-thinking individual with a deep understanding of the flooring industry, market trends, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop an innovation strategy for Shaw’s residential flooring products and processes for new product development.
Become strategically aligned with each brand to ensure that both hard surface and carpet innovation are seeking the right solutions.
Collaborate with, support and/or lead embedded technical innovation and development personnel across the company to speed up commercialization of key business initiatives identified.
Prepare a schedule for new product development.
Be comfortable working with and seeking optimum solutions with team members from various groups includingR&D,brand, product,sustainability, sourcing, quality, engineering, sales,marketingandmanufacturing.
Foster a culture of innovation within the organization by promoting collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. Work closely with internal stakeholders to solicitideas, gather feedback, and drive innovation initiatives.Make certain that innovation initiatives are properly supporting long term as well as shorter term business plans.
Use cost accounting techniques to estimate potential value, payback, and ROI for new products.
Be achievement oriented with a history of blending engineering, creativityand managementability.
Embody customer-centricity by ensuring that Shaw’s various customers are the focal point of all decisions related to innovation project and process execution.
Ability to translate complex technical issues into simple terms.
Intellectual Property: Identify and protectvaluable intellectual property through patents, trademarks, and other forms of intellectual property rights. Work closely with legal counsel to secure and defend the company’s innovations.
Develop strategic innovation relationship with international or domestic suppliers.
Required Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Designor related field.
Minimum 5years’ experience in manufacturing or product/equipment design and optimization.
Strong technical skills and expertisein areas such as mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, product development, or materials science.
Proficiency in CAD software and prototyping tools for design and fabrication of prototypes.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Experience with project management and agile development methodologies is a plus.
Passion for innovation and a desire to make a meaningful impact through technology and engineering.
Work Shift
