Job Overview:
In this role, the Director of Human Resources will oversee all operations of the Human Resources Department for a staff of approximately 350 full and part-time employees, ensuring compliance with labor-related laws and guidelines, managing wage and salary administration, recruiting and staffing, employee relations, EEO compliance and reporting, and unemployment compensation. This leader will be responsible for the administration of employee benefits and workers' compensation programs. The Director will work closely with the Managing Director to foster a culture of inclusivity, professionalism, and excellence within the organization.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Occasional night and weekend work may be required.
Reporting:
This role reports directly to the Managing Director of the hotel. The Director of Human Resources will supervise a staff of 3 members and work closely with the payroll specialist.
Objectives:
- Acts as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and Leadership Team in advancing the organization's HR vision, operational strategy, and recruitment goals
- Ensures compliance with all labor-related laws and guidelines, implementing best practices in HR management
- Oversees successful recruitment, seamless onboarding, ongoing professional development, effective performance evaluation, and strong employee retention
- Manages employee relations, EEO compliance, and unemployment compensation processes
- Administers and optimizes employee benefits and workers' compensation programs
Responsibilities:
General HR Operations:
- Creates and maintains updated Departmental Standards and Checklists, tracking completion of initial and ongoing training of the organization
- Develops departmental service and operational manuals with department managers, ensuring updated versions are in place
- Maintains all job descriptions for the organization and initiates annual performance evaluations
Benefits Administration:
- Administers Company Benefit Programs, including communication, enrollment, changes, and terminations
- Conducts open enrollment of benefit programs annually and communicates changes of benefits plans to the staff
- Oversees workers' compensation program, ensuring proper reporting procedures and accurate reports
Recruitment and Employee Relations:
- Recruits, interviews, and refers qualified candidates for all levels of employment
- Coaches and counsels managers and employees to enhance relationships and performance within the organization
- Supports and enforces disciplinary procedures and practices, reviewing all documentation for accuracy and consistency
Compliance and Reporting:
- Manages the maintenance of Employee and Human Resource records, ensuring compliance with all state and federal record-keeping requirements
- Responds to EEO and unemployment claims as required by law, providing complete documentation
- Completes all government-required reports for OSHA and Wage & Hour
Qualifications and Skills:
- Passionate about excellence in Human Resources management in the hospitality industry
- Strong judgment, analytic reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all departments
- Strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Skilled in leveraging technology to streamline HR processes and enhance productivity
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior HR director role preferably in the hospitality industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and industry standards for compliance
- Proficiency in using HR/Payroll Software systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience implementing various modules of a Human Resource Information System
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
