Director of Human Resources/Personnel

We are looking for a human resource manager to continue to enhance human resource initiatives to support the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
Strategic Initiatives
- Work with Executive Directors to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives across the organization.
- Gather and analyze useful HR metrics, such as time to hire, employee turnover rates, and cost-per-hire to guide decision-making.
- Develop strategic initiatives to improve staff retention and recruitment.
- Develop metrics, programs, policies, and strategies to create and sustain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
- Ensure all strategy and policies support the mission of the organization.
Compensation and Benefits Administration
- Manage a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; reviewing job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; and recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
- Implement employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; and designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
- Administrator FMLA, unemployment, L&I claims, and other benefit related programs governed by employment and labor laws.
Staffing and Recruitment
- Advance human resource staff by overseeing talent acquisition, recruitment, and selection processes.
- Enhance recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counsel managers on candidate selection; conduct and analyze exit interviews; and recommend changes as needed.
- Manage employee onboarding processes and help organize training and development initiatives.
- Labor Law, Regulations, and Policy Development
- Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Enforce management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures and employment contracts.
- Design and act upon company policies that reinforce diversity in the workplace.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements and by adhering to employee requirements set forth by the Department of Education and Department of Disability.
- Ensure employee compliance with all company policies and state and federal regulations.
- Process worker’s compensation claims and maintain OSHA 300 Logs.
- Ensure compliance regarding all employment practices, such as selection processes, I-9 reporting, record keeping, EEOC compliance and reporting, and file management.
- Retain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
Training and Development
- Oversee and improve upon employee orientation and new staff onboarding processes.
- Review data from performance evaluations to drive effective employee development and assess training needs.
- Work with Executive Directors to develop disciplinary action processes, and train managers to coach employees.
- Assist in resolving employee grievances, and counseling employees and supervisors.
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
- Assist leadership team with developing corrective action plans as needed.
Employee Wellness and Safety
- Nurture a positive working environment and help the organization maintain strong employee relations.
- Implement workplace safety procedures and execute best practices to manage risk.
- Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly.
- Develop staff appreciation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or similar field.
- PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
- Preferred, 3+ years of experience in human resource management.
- Preferred, 3+ year of experience with hiring, communication processes, compensation and wage structure, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, employment law, recruitment and retention, compensation and employee benefit program administration, and human resource metrics.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Intermediate mathematical skills.
- Excellent active listening, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- Must be highly motivated, self-directed, achievement-oriented, and show attention to detail.
