IHG Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a dynamic leader to join the new InterContinental San Antonio team as Director of Group Sales. The InterContinental San Antonio will be a 391-room luxurious, first-class destination serving visitors to San Antonio as well as the city’s robust business and convention industry with an anticipated opening date in late 2024. Following a complete transformation, InterContinental San Antonio will include 40,000 square feet of meeting space, world-class restaurant and bar experiences, and luxury rooftop amenities. Guests will discover touches of subtle luxury and a refined ambiance throughout their experience. A new rooftop design will maximize the expansive and distinctive outdoor space, creating a feeling of openness. In addition to the outdoor pool, multiple levels of dining and gathering spaces will allow guests to meet, eat and relax.
The hotel represents the first property for the InterContinental brand in San Antonio, catering to the city’s strong convention and business travel market, as well as expanding the city’s presence in the high-end leisure market. Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Revenue Management to implement and support our company's pricing, market strategy, and revenue management best practices. In this role, you will be responsible for managing hotel revenue generation and maximization through the effective utilization of company systems, business processes, and specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly Revenue Management Meetings, evaluating the 120-day booking period for rate and availability control.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales and sales team to optimize meeting space usage and revenue contribution.
- Manage room and function space inventory, ensuring proper allocation to maximize revenue and profits.
- Collaborate with the Sales Department on group rates, dates, and patterns, steering towards optimal time frames.
- Prepare reports and analyses for Revenue Management Meetings.
- Explore market mix variations to stimulate additional revenue without increasing costs.
- Evaluate internal incentive programs and provide payback analysis to the General Manager.
- Maintain software programs contributing to room revenue management.
- Work closely with Marketing/Sales, Front Office, and Reservations to align departmental objectives with total rooms revenue management.
- Prepare presentations and reports for hotel leadership, corporate team, and ownership/asset management representatives.
- Establish hotel pricing levels in all segments.
- Monitor group blocks and actively manage room inventory.
- Collaborate with Regional Director of Revenue Management and hotel teams to establish pricing, yield, and selling strategies.
- Monitor competitor strategies, local market dynamics, and present action plans to management.
- Assist with annual hotel budget development and ongoing results analysis.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with all hotel departments.
- Guide Reservations and Front Desk teams for Revenue Optimization.
- Provide training, reinforcement, and coaching for staff as necessary.
- Analyze financial data, business intelligence, and market data for improvement opportunities.
- Interact with guests, corporate leadership, ownership/asset management representatives, and other contacts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountability: This role is responsible for managing the hotel’s revenue-related strategies, achieving and exceeding RevPAR Index and RevPAR goals. Typically, this job exists in a full-service, luxury, or resort hotel with catering and/or convention facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or similar.
- 5+ years of experience in a Revenue Management leadership role.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds.
- Proficient in using property management and reservations systems.
- Strong mathematical skills, communication skills, and understanding of microeconomics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of hotel pricing concepts, yield management optimization, and effective selling strategies.
- Strong computer skills, including reading and writing abilities.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.
