We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Finance to join our management team at the Climate and Clean Energy Equity Fund (Equity Fund). This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President of Operations and Strategy (Chief of Staff) and plays a pivotal role in overseeing Equity Fund’s finance and accounting operations.
In partnership with the Chief of Staff, the Director of Finance is responsible for managing the Equity Fund’s financial health, including revenue, expenditures, cash flow, and asset management. Working closely with outsourced finance and accounting partners, this role ensures the efficiency and integrity of all financial operations, including the timely and accurate disbursement of grant funds.
This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven finance professional to support impactful grant-making efforts and help advance equity in the climate and clean energy space.

Position Responsibilities:
Provide Strategic Leadership of Enterprise Wide Financial, Business, and Operations Planning
- Lead all aspects of financial oversight, including planning, budgeting, accounting, auditing, and compliance across the enterprise, in partnership with the Chief of Staff. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Finance team and consultants.
- Strive for the continuous improvement of financial systems and tools for generating real-time forecasts and analytics to support sound business decisions with particular attention to the reporting needs of an intermediary funding organization.
- Serve as the strategic lead for integrating the Fund’s financial processes and systems to enable a clearer enterprise-wide view and management of financials for effective and efficient grant-making.
- Able to collaborate with other directors and functional leaders to continuously improve processes and systems to ensure grantees receive funding seamlessly and in a timely manner.
Contribute to Organizational Leadership
- Serve as a strategy and thought partner in improving organizational and financial systems, structures, policies, and talent development to enable operational and programmatic quality and effectiveness.
- Support the evolution of better integration of financial, organizational, and people management aspects under the emerging strategic and programmatic framework the Chief of Staff and Executive team sets forth.
- Communicate with stakeholders within and outside the organization to ensure a seamless flow of dollars and tracking of relevant data and metrics to support impact.
- Comfortable in a start-up and rapid growth environment with new systems and processes being built at a fast pace.

Personnel Management: Staff positions reporting to the Director of Finance include:
- Finance Manager
- Outsourced Accounting Firm
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform theposition’s essential functions.
- A minimum of 10 years of strategic leadership and career growth in finance, operational and compliance functions at a similarly complex organization. Financial management experience in an intermediary funder context is preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering quality services, organizational improvements, and excellence in strategic, corporate, and budget management, along with outstanding stewardship of financial and physical resources.
- Demonstrated body of work that reflects a commitment to organizational excellence and efficiency, servant leadership, collaboration and effective team management, and promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Clear strategic and operational vision and exceptional skill in synthesizing information and translating vision into action steps for the long and short term.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, navigating change management, and proposing new ways to achieve desired outcomes with inclusive planning, problem-solving, and decision-making approaches.
- Experience with interacting with a broad set of stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, senior department heads, and staff across the organization.
- Ability to travel domestically 10-15% annually.
