POSITION DESCRIPTION:
ILC+REC seeks a Director of Finance that would oversee the organization’s finances. The main responsibilities of the Director of Finance are financial strategy and planning, financial operations, budget and audit management, financial reporting and analysis, and team leadership and development of the financial team. The successful candidate will be an expert in nonprofit financial management, is meticulously attentive, is an excellent collaborator and aligns strongly with our organizational mission. This role plays a critical part in the organization’s strategic decision-making process as it continues to enhance its quality programming. This position will be reporting to the Executive Director (ED) and is part of the senior leadership team.

CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Produce, analyze and communicate monthly and annual financial reports including Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activity, Cash Flow Projections, Budget Projections, Forecast, and other reports and dashboards to senior leadership team and stakeholders.
- Lead the annual and long-term budgeting process in collaboration with the ED and other members of the senior leadership team by providing strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.
- Manage financial risk and implement risk management strategies.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Assure final budget numbers projected are entered and current in the financial management software, Aplos.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process and preparation of the 990, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
- Manage and process grant funds, donations, and pledges while maintaining a clear and precise track record.
- Oversee the Finance Manager’s duties and assist when needed in the financial programmatic processes (ex. check requests, expense receipts and credit cards).
- Update and implement all necessary financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with organizational goals and strategic plan.
- Manage and optimize the financial performance of the organization, including revenue and cost management.
- Supervise the Finance team, consisting of the Finance Manager, by providing excellent leadership, guidance, and mentorship.
- Bachelor's or Masters’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, non-profit management, or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 6-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6 plus years of broad financial and operations management experience, strongly preferred in a non-profit organization.
- In-depth knowledge of nonprofit finance and accounting principles, laws, GAAP principles, and best practices is required.
- Ability to translate financial concepts and to effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues.
- Excellent strategic thinker and planner, with a strong ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Exceptional knowledge of accounting, finance, and reporting software.
- Ability to work independently, prioritizing workflow to meet critical deadlines while paying exceptionally close attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of a committed integrated team.
- Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the Executive Director, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills with internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of managing a $5 - 10 million organizational budget.
- Openly supports departmental and organizational changes and demonstrates comfort working in a rapidly growing and evolving organization.
- Commitment to agency mission and values in serving immigrants/refugees/newcomers.
- Deep understanding and ability to work sensitively and well with people of diverse national, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds is required.
- Advanced Excel skill is required.
- Strong fluency in using Office 365 applications (ex. Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Etc.) and a strong ability to learn new software is required.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Workdays pertain to a Monday - Friday schedule with no weekends required unless otherwise specified.
- Annual base salary starting at $110,000, commensurate with experience.
